Gokyo Valley Trek
- Duration : 15 Days Trip
- Altitude : 5360 M
USD$2600USD$2400- starting price
There is an alternative to the traditional treks in the Everest region: the Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek. This hike is a magnificent journey that takes you to the alluring Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri. One of the most breathtaking vantage points, it offers spectacular views of the entire range of snow-capped mountains, including Mount Everest, Mount Makalu, Mount Lhotse, Mount Cho-Oyu, and Mount Everest. The Sagarmatha National Park covers the six lakes that make up the Gokyo Lakes, which are located in the Gokyo Valley at an elevation of 4,700 to 5,000 meters. Both Hindus and Buddhists regard the lakes as holy places, and they have been recognized as a Ramsar site. The Gokyo Lakes and Gokyo Ri Trek, which lasts 15 days, starts in Kathmandu, where we see numerous historic sites.

Day 1
Arrive at Kathmandu
When you arrive at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative from our organization will greet you and wish you a warm welcome to Nepal before driving you to the hotel you've reserved. After the check-in process is complete, you can unwind and sleep at the hotel.
In order to familiarize you with some good restaurants, ATMs, money changers, and other vital places you might need during your stay in Thamel, the office staff will later accompany you on a brief tour of the neighborhood.
Day 2
Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley, the capital city
After breakfast, we will introduce you to your tour guide and arrange for him to pick you up at your hotel for a fascinating excursion to Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, and Pashupatinath.
Day 3
Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla & trek to Phakding (2,650m/8,692ft)
We will be driven to the domestic terminal of TIA after breakfast in preparation for our early-morning flight to Lukla.
We arrive at Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla after flying over the stunning green and white mountains.
One of the world's most picturesque aviation routes ends with a landing on a hillside surrounded by tall mountains.
We arrive in Lukla, where we are greeted by the rest of the team. Following some packing and preparations, we begin our journey through the affluent village of Lukla till we reach Phakding. We only have a short hike today to help with acclimatization.
However, if you're looking for more things to do, we may go visit a nearby monastery as a side excursion.
Day 4
Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft)
After breakfast, we take a walk through lovely pine forests, along the Dudh Koshi River, and finally arrive at Namche Bazaar. After over an hour of trekking, we reach the gleaming Mt. Thamserku (6,608m) on our right and enjoy the peace of pine, fir, and juniper forests along the way.
We might even be able to see Mount Everest peeking above the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge if the weather is clear.
We keep going till we arrive at Namche Bazaar, the primary trading hub of this area and the entry to Sagarmatha National Park, which is the gateway to Mount Everest. On this day, we cross five suspension bridges, with the Hillary Bridge, the last one, being the tallest. The distance from Hillary Bridge is steep.
Day 5
Rest day for acclimatization
The day designated for acclimatization is today. Health professionals advise against inactivity on rest days and instead encourage us to be active. For this day, there are a few possibilities available.
We may either trek up to the Everest View Hotel and take in a close-up view of the magnificent Everest or we can stroll around Namche's charming villages and get to know the Sherpa people and their rich culture. Trekkers may also visit the community museum, which has exhibits showcasing the local flora and wildlife and the history of the Mount Everest region, either in Namche village or after returning from the hike to the Everest View Hotel.
Day 6
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Phortse (3,810m/12,496ft)
We set out on a trail with gentle ascents and descents from Namche Bazaar. Himalayan Thars, musk deer, and Himalayan Pheasants are likely to be seen along the journey. Then we start to descend to Kyanjuma. We travel the Gokyo routes from Sansa, and from Mong, we can see the mountains Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Tawoche, and Khumbila.
Before reaching Phorse, our trek ascends through rhododendron trees before descending to Dudhkoshi Khola. We have fantastic views of the Tawache and Cholaste mountains from here.
Day 7
Trek from Phortse Village to Machhermo (4,470m/14,661ft)
We might encounter native fauna including pheasants, mountain goats, and musk deer after crossing a bridge over the Dudh Koshi River. Before arriving to Dole, our journey passes by bridges, waterfalls, and forests. Through a picturesque ridge with views of the Cho Oyu, Kantega, and Thamserku ranges, we ascent steadily. From the settlement of Luza, we ascend and cross the Dudh Koshi River. Before arriving in Machhermo, we continue walking through little towns and over sandy trails.
Day 8
Trek from Machhermo to Gokyo (4,800m/15,744ft)
We climb a hill and take in views of the Kangtega, Thamserku, and Cho-Oyu mountains, as well as the Dudh Koshi valley. The valley opens after the ridge as the trail enters Phangga and passes through a Chorten. We make our way down to the river's edge before ascending a rocky trail to the Ngozamba Glacier's terminal moraine.
Before arriving in Gokyo, we travel through Longpongo, Raboche Tsho, and Dudh Pokhari. We observe what are thought to be the footprints of a Lama on the trail near to the first lake (Buddhist priest). We visit Dudh Pokhari before retiring for the evening.
Day 9
Gokyo Valley: Climb Gokyo Ri (5,357m/17,630ft) & hike to fifth lake
We stay in Gokyo for an additional day to adjust to the high altitude. Today, if the weather cooperates, we will climb Gokyo Ri. From the summit of Gokyo Ri, we take in the serene Gokyo lakes and the Himalayan panorama.
Additionally, we take a hike to the fourth and fifth Gokyo lakes. Only 3 miles separate the fourth lake from Gokyo. High cliffs and Himalayan peaks rising above it serve as its identifiers. We make a bit more progress on foot until we reach the fifth lake.
We may get stunning views of Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makalu by ascending a nearby hill.
Day 10
Trek from Gokyo to Dole (4,200m/13,776ft)
The first Gokyo lakes are passed as we make our way down a track that follows the Dudh Koshi River. We take in views of the Cholatse and Taboche peaks along the route.
Our trail ascends a hill before descending. We have fantastic views of the Thamserku, Cho Oyu, and Kangtega mountains until we get to the chorten at the edge. Before arriving to Dole, we pass via the villages of Machhermo, Luza, and Lhafarma.
Day 11
Trek down to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft)
Rhododendrons, wildflowers, and waterfalls are all admired as we make our way down a difficult trek to Phortse Thanga. Mountain goats, musk deer, pheasants, and other animals are also present.
We have a nice view of Khumbila summit from Mong. We may enjoy the view of the mountains at Taboche, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kangtega as we travel to Namche.
Day 12
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,840m/9,315ft)
Before moving on to a leveled track, we descend over a rocky trail and pass over multiple suspension bridges. As we continue up the same trail to Lukla, the air is warmer.
Once we arrive in Lukla, our alpine adventure comes to a conclusion. We occupy our time by thinking back on our time on the mountain.
Day 13
Fly to Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)
After breakfast, we make our way to the airport to catch our flights. There are few drinks and snacks available, and the airport building is very cold.
Once you start speeding down into the emptiness, the flight is thrilling. The flight to Kathmandu begins when the plane avoids the hillside beneath Number Peak and avoids the Lamjura Pass.
Day 14
Leisure day at Kathmandu
A leisurely day in Kathmandu is followed by a celebration and farewell dinner. You can request that your guide take you on a tour of the Kathmandu Valley.
You can visit the Narayanhiti Museum, which was formerly the residence of the last monarch of Nepal, as well as other museums in the valley on this day. You could also visit Nagarkot's summit.
You will enjoy a goodbye meal and some sightseeing around the valley's world-heritage sites with your Nepali companions and your tour guide. With your guide, you might even decide to extend your trip to include a Chitwan jungle safari, rafting excursions, and other activities.
