The Lower Mustang Trek usually takes around 7 to 10 days to complete, depending on the specific route and your pace. The trek starts and ends in Jomsom, which is accessible by a short flight from Pokhara. The trail passes through villages like Kagbeni, Marpha, Tukuche, and Ghasa. The Lower Mustang region offers diverse landscapes ranging from lush green valleys to barren desert-like terrain. You'll trek through the Kali Gandaki River valley, which is the world's deepest gorge. The area is known for its breathtaking views of towering peaks such as Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, and Annapurna. Lower Mustang is influenced by both Tibetan and Hindu cultures. You'll come across traditional Thakali villages where you can experience their unique culture, try local cuisine, and visit monasteries and temples along the way. Marpha village is famous for its apple orchards and production of apple-based products, including the local apple brandy. The maximum altitude reached during the Lower Mustang Trek is at Muktinath, which stands at approximately 3,800 meters (12,470 feet) above sea level. While it is a high-altitude trek, it is generally considered less challenging than the Upper Mustang Trek in terms of altitude.

Day 1

Pokhara - Jomsom - Kagbeni

Take a brief, picturesque flight early in the morning to the beautiful village of Jomsom. To reach the mountain village of Jomsom, which offers a close-up view of the Annapurna range, you must take a 20-minute flight. Enjoy the fresh mountain air in Jomsom before beginning your day's hike to Kagbeni along the banks of the Kali Gandaki river. You can reach this breathtaking location in the middle of the Alps after a leisurely four-hour stroll.

Day 2

Trek to Jharkot village (3,550 m) 3 hours walk and stay in lodge.

It's wonderful to stop here and take the day to explore this old fortified village before beginning the day's walk to Jharkot in the early morning. This is an uphill climb and you gain quite a bit of elevation, so it's nice to stop here and enjoy the beautiful morning. The striking red Gompa (monastery) of the Sakya school of Buddhism, which dominates the village's front, is the focal point. This gompa has a Tibetan Medicine school that is still in operation and is more than 500 years old. The iconic Thorong La (pass), the highest point of the Annapurna Circuit hike, is visible as well as views down the valley and upwards.

Day 3

Day trip to Muktinath & trek to Lupra

Visit to Muktinath, a revered Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage site and superb illustration of interreligious harmony. The place is maintained by local Buddhist nuns, and hundreds of pilgrims from Tibet, India, and Nepal travel here in search of salvation and purification. It is thought that numerous rulers in Asia have done the same throughout history. going to a neighborhood Bonpo monastery. You will be far from the crowds and the jeep track to Jharkot and Muktinath, even if you must to re-climb the mountain to rejoin the trail. It is a fantastic route that trekkers on the Annapurna circuit overlook. Spend the night in the less-visited Lupra settlement.

Day 4

Trek to Phalyak

To get to the settlement of Phalyak, take the middle road. As soon as you reach the Kaligandaki River's bank, move onward in the direction of the river's confluence, where a number of tiny tributaries join to produce a raging river. After crossing a bridge, go up the Kolungba Khola, which flows from the Tashikang summit and its neighboring glaciers. You will soon arrive in Phalyak, a picturesque village in the Mustang region that is hardly ever explored. Only a few people paid attention to the settlement because it was cut off from the main path. This location is ideal for taking in the pure Tibetan customs and ceremonies.

Day 5

Trek to Thini village (2,840 m) & Side Hike to Dhumba Tal (2,830m)

Take the side trip trekking path to Jomsom (depicted on the Himalayan Map House map of the Upper & Lower Mustang). An enjoyable path as the brownie mountain follows your feet. However, along this lonely stretch, you will pass some chortens that are covered in prayer flags. This demonstrates the impact of Buddhism at Nepal's higher elevations. After crossing a bridge, you will arrive in Hadigaon in a short while. then proceed in the direction of Thinigaon.

After settling in and eating lunch, take an hour-long detour to the beautiful Dhumba Tal (Lake) to let all of the samsaric pressure out. The water is spotless and seems to have been unaltered for millennia. Enjoy your time at the lake, then head back to Thinigaon.

Day 6

Trek to Chimang village (2,850m)

The route from here to Chimang Gaun passes through the stunning stone dwellings. Beautiful passageways were created by arranging the flat stone slabs below. The residents of this village go by the name Chimba. Since the majority of them practice Buddhism, you might as well learn about their way of life and cultures. The village's young children will chase you down to take your picture since they think they look great in front of the mountains. Spend some time exploring the Tibetan Refugee Camp, where they offer handmade crafts and mementos for sale.

Day 7

Trek to Kalapani (2,530m)

Make your way down to the Kalapani from Chimanggaon. The sights get better as you hike further down the trail. The trail is accompanied by snow-capped peaks throughout, especially the peaks of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri (meaning Blue Ridge), which rise above the northeastern Himalayas. The route is entirely unexplored and takes you through some of the most beautiful places on earth. Once you get to Kalopani, it's lovely to meander around the towns and monasteries.

Day 8

Trek to Larjung Village

From Ghandruk, descend a hill to Syauli Bazaar, then take a flat, pleasant walk to Nayapul before driving back to Pokhara's settlement. Rest and unwind after a five-day hike.

Day 9

Trekking to Jomsom via Marpha

After making some beautiful and lasting memories in Larjung, proceed to Marpha, another charming village, for lunch. Marpha appears to be a rainbow at first glance, however it only has one color—black. The flat slabs put on the lanes and the stone homes give the area a mysterious feel. The breathtaking Nilgiri peak dominates the views from this settlement, and they are absolutely stunning. Explore the neighborhood hamlets in Marpha and spend some time chatting with the residents before continuing on to Jomsom for the final night of the trek.
